In 1993, we moved to Tucson with two small children and one clear mission: find a home where a family could truly put down roots. We wanted a neighborhood with a strong sense of community, close to great schools and everyday conveniences. We'd heard wonderful things about District 16 — in our opinion at the time, among the finest public schools in Tucson — and this part of the Catalina Foothills felt exactly right.
Then one evening, driving south from Jochums down Craycroft, we crested the hill and the city unfolded below us in a blanket of lights. I still remember that moment, over thirty years later. It was breathtaking. We knew right then: this was home.
Our children grew up here. There were birthday parties, pool parties, and summers that seemed to last forever. We built a small fire circle on the side of the house where we'd camp out, roast s'mores, and count the stars. The covered patio became our second living room. The rooftop became our private theater for sunsets over the Catalinas — and on some winter mornings, we'd pour coffee and look through the kitchen window to find the mountain peaks occasionally dusted with snow.
When we wanted neighbors on a weekend afternoon, the Skyline Bel Air community pool was just around the corner — swimming, tennis, basketball, and good conversation. And on evenings when we craved something special, Piazza Gavi became our Italian restaurant of choice, just a short drive away.
We've loved every year in this home. Now that our children have grown and moved on, it's time for another family to write their own story here. We hope it's yours.
"As you crest the hill, the view of the city lights is breathtaking. I still remember that first time, over 30 years ago. Amazing."
Drive slowly through the neighborhood — these animals call it home too.
Catalina Foothills Unified School District — in our opinion when we moved here, among the best in Tucson. Buyers should verify current ratings.
